Day 2
Arrive in Reykjavik
Meet your Tour Director
Your 24-hour Tour Director will meet you at the airport and remain with your group until your final airport departure.
Reykjavik Tour Director-led sightseeing tour
Explore Reykjavik, Iceland’s vibrant capital and the nation’s first permanent settlement. Stroll along Laugavegur Street, lined with colourful boutiques and cozy cafés. Visit Bessastaðir, the official residence of Iceland’s president, and see Höfði House, where Reagan and Gorbachev met for their historic 1986 summit. Climb the 73-meter tower of Hallgrímskirkja Church, dedicated to poet Hallgrímur Pétursson, for panoramic views of the city and surrounding mountains, and hear the grand 25-ton pipe organ fill the hall with sound.
Icelandic Saga Museum visit
Go back to the beginning of Iceland’s turbulent history, from the earliest settlers to the 16th century, and experience where legend and history collide.
Day 3
Travel to the South Shore
Lava Centre visit
Hold on tight! Visit the largest volcano & earthquake exhibition in Europe. This educational and interactive exhibition will engage all your senses and put you at the core of a volcanic eruption. Experience it all in 4K HD!
Seljalandsfoss waterfall walk
View the beautiful Seljalandsfoss, located about 18 miles west of Skogar. This tall and misty waterfall is one of Iceland’s most unique, with a path that lets you walk behind the curtain of water, so bring a raincoat or umbrella to stay dry.
Skogafoss waterfall
Take in the impressive Skógafoss waterfall, one of the largest in Iceland, with a drop of over 200 feet. Bring waterproof clothing, as you can walk right up to the base and feel the mist from its powerful cascade.
Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach
Day 4
Skaftafell National Park excursion
Formed over thousands of years by the meeting of volcanic fire and glacial water, Skaftafell National Park showcases some of Iceland’s most stunning natural wonders. With your Tour Director, stop to admire rugged mountains, glacial lagoons, and powerful waterfalls. The park’s crown jewel is the Vatnajökull Ice Cap, the largest glacier in Iceland. On a clear day, enjoy what the Guinness Book of World Records calls the world’s longest sight line.
Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon
Walk along the shores of the Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon to see the icebergs that have drifted from the Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier.
Day 5
Golden Circle excursion
Experience all the geological diversity that Iceland has to offer with a visit to the Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that falls on a rift between two tectonic plates. Then make your way to the Great Geysir, watch the Hvítá river disappear into the earth at the Gullfoss Falls, and watch the Strokkur Geyser erupt. End the tour with a tasty stop for gelato tasting at the Efstidalur farm, a recently renovated farm in offering a unique tasting experience.
Day 6
Blue Lagoon visit
Relax and unwind at the world-famous Blue Lagoon, a bright blue, mineral-rich geothermal spa set in the middle of a vast lava field. Soak in the warm, healing waters as clouds of steam rise around you, revealing moss-covered lava formations and the distant silhouettes of the geothermal power plant. The lagoon’s floor, covered with smooth rocks and slimy, white silica mud, adds to this uniquely Icelandic experience.
Day 7
Return home
Optional Extension
Add 2 Days in Stykkishólmur
Depart Reykjavik for the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, stopping at the Bjarnarhöfn Shark Museum before arriving in Stykkishólmur. Enjoy the Viking Sushi Cruise to explore the surrounding Breiðafjörður Bay.
